  • Notes
    • MurielEllis writes : "it would seem that Charlotte died of Diptheria. She had been attending her brother William (a farmer) who had broken his leg - a day or so later she developed a sore throat and within days was dead. This begs the question 'where was William's wife?
Perhaps she had died. I can't find any record of William's marriage. He is listed in the 1861 Census as being married.....that record would have been compiled prior to his death in July. Perhaps he too got Diptheria?? I have another Canadian line 'Wilson' on my grandmother's side and records of that period are very difficult to find.....American Civil War began 1861/2 and there was a lot of movement between what is now Ontario and Upper state New York. I don't think birth registration was obligatory and marriage records are scimpy - many of the old churches no longer standing. I live in hope of finds being made."
